On Saturday, October 13, 2007, detectives assigned to the department’s Special Victims Investigations Unit arrested 19-year-old William Hayes, of the 3100 block of G Street, SE, and charged him with Felony Murder in connection with the death of Darnell Wilson.
At approximately 4 am on Friday, September 28, 2007, police were called to a residence located in the 3100 block of G Street, SE for the report of an unconscious infant. Upon arrival officers located 17-month old Darnell Wilson of the 3000 block of K Street, SE, in an apparent unconscious condition. He was taken to the Children’s National Medical Center and pronounced dead.
A subsequent autopsy conducted by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner determined that the cause of death in this case was due to Blunt Force Impact Trauma and the manner of death was ruled a homicide.
