The combined efforts of the Metropolitan Police Department/FBI Robbery Task Force and New York City law enforcement officials has led to the arrest of two men suspected of participating in the summer 2006 armed robbery of the Georgetown Fine Jewelry and Art store.
On Monday, October 22, 2007, New York City authorities arrested two men on DC Superior Court arrest warrants. The suspects are identified as 24-year-old Damian Hamilton of the 300 block of New York Avenue in Brooklyn, New York and 23-year-old Lexton Pellew of the 400 block of Rutland Road in Brooklyn, New York. Both men are being extradited to the District of Columbia. Three other individuals have been previously charged in connection with this case.
On Sunday, August 20, 2006, at approximately 1:58 pm, several men entered the Georgetown Fine Jewelry and Art store in the 1200 block of Wisconsin Avenue, NW. Once inside, one of the men displayed a handgun, robbed the store of cash and robbed several employees inside. During the course of the robbery, one of the suspects shot a male employee. The victim was transported to an area hospital and admitted in critical condition. He survived the shooting.
