Chief of Police Cathy L. Lanier announced today that the Metropolitan Police Department is increasing patrols in neighborhoods where homicides have recently occurred.

Officers will increase visibility in those neighborhoods by enhancing patrol presence through the utilization of increased vehicle, bicycle and foot patrols.  The department’s Violent Crimes Branch continues to pursue leads in a number of recent homicides which remain under active investigation. At this time there is no conclusive evidence that these incidents are connected or that the victims in these cases were randomly targeted.

“Violence of any type will not be tolerated.  Residents deserve safe communities, and they should expect nothing less.  Detectives will pursue every lead until we find those responsible for these murders, said Chief Lanier.”

The Metropolitan Police Department currently offers a reward of up to $25,000 to the person or persons who provide information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for any homicide committed in the District of Columbia.
