Fatal Shooting on North Capitol Street, NW

On Monday, October 29, 2007, at approximately 9:24 am, police and DC Fire Department emergency medical technicians (EMTs) responded to 1200 of North Capitol Street, NW to investigate the report of a man down. Upon arrival, they discovered an adult male suffering from apparent multiple gunshot wounds to the head. The EMTs could find no life signs.

The victim, identified as 31-year-old Michael Hardie, of the 1600 block of Trinidad Avenue, NE, was later officially pronounced dead on the scene by a representative of the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for the District of Columbia. Subsequently, the body was transported by morgue wagon to the DC Morgue.

The case is currently under investigation by detectives assigned to the department’s Violent Crimes Branch. Anyone who has information regarding this case is asked to call (202) 727-9099.

The Metropolitan Police Department offers a reward of up to $25,000 for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for any homicide committed in the District of Columbia.
