On Friday, November 2, 2007, members of the Metropolitan Police Department’s Violent Crimes Branch arrested 19-year-old Leroy Joseph Green of the 4800 block of Texas Avenue, SE. Green has been charged with Murder Two While Armed in connection with the fatal shooting of Royell Walker.

At approximately 8:49 p.m. on Tuesday, February 20, 2007, police were called to the front of 3539 East Capitol Street, SE, for the report of a shooting. Upon arrival, officers located 20-year-old Royell Walker of the 3500 block of A Street, SE, suffering from an apparent gunshot wound to the head. Mr. Walker was subsequently taken to the Washington Hospital Center’s MedSTAR Unit and pronounced dead.
