Metropolitan Police have arrested the second suspect in the kidnapping and rape of a Prince George’s County woman. District resident Michael Wright, 18, turned himself into the Metropolitan Police Department’s 7th District station today at 12:30 pm. He faces charges of kidnapping, sexual assault and robbery.
On Sunday, November 4, 2007, Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) 7th District officers and detectives arrested 18-year-old Johnathan Edmonds for his role in the crime. Edmonds, of no fixed address was arrested at 13th and Congress Avenue. He is charged with car jacking while armed. Members of the Prince George’s County Police Department’s Sexual Assault Unit have also issued a warrant for Edmonds, charging him with First Degree Rape and False Imprisonment.
On November 2, 2007, the victim was abducted by two armed black males after getting out of her car at 13th Place and Savannah Street, S.E. Edmonds and Wright were allegedly armed with handguns and forced the women into her vehicle, forcing her to drive to her home Prince George’s County. While in route, the victim was sexually assaulted by one of the suspects and then repeatedly assaulted by both men in her home. Edmonds and Wright then forced the woman to withdraw money from an ATM and released her on Southern Avenue, S.E.
Both MPD and the Prince George’s County Police Department worked together on this case.
