Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Violent Crimes Branch have made an arrest in connection with an October 2004 homicide. On Tuesday, December 4, 2007, 25-year-old Stephen Coleman of the 1000 block of Douglas Street, NE, was charged with Second Degree Murder While Armed in the fatal shooting of Curtis Murphy.
At approximately 11:50 PM on Thursday, October 7, 2004, police were called to the 2500 block of 10th Street, NE for the report of a shooting. Upon arrival officers located 22-year-old Curtis Murphy of Dale City, Virginia suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to the body. He was taken to Howard University Hospital where he was pronounced dead at 12:30 AM the next morning.
