Critical Shooting on H Street, NW

At approximately 2:00 am this morning, three men were ejected from the Hung Jury Pub, located at 1819 H Street, NW. The three men reportedly returned back to the area and confronted a bouncer outside the club. One of the men then allegedly produced a handgun and shot the bouncer in the abdomen. He was taken to an area hospital and admitted in critical condition. His name is being withheld because he is a witness in the case.

It was at this time that 31-year-old Officer Enoch Rogers, a 9-year-veteran assigned to the Second District, was flagged down by citizens, while he was on scooter patrol in the area, and advised of the situation. He then apprehended a second subject and was assisted by a member of the Uniformed Division of the Secret Service who had also responded to the area. A third subject made good his escape.

Both subjects have been charged with Assault With Intent to Kill While Armed. They are identified as 24-year-old Eric Ewell of the 9100 block of Yorkshire Lane in Manassas, Virginia and 27-year-old Jerome Hogan of the 12000 block of Bunche Road in Fairfax, Virginia. They are expected to be arraigned today in D.C. Superior Court.
