On Tuesday, December 18, 2007 members of the department’s Violent Crimes Unit arrested 39-year-old Charles Clark, of 1800 Irving Street, NE in connection with the murder of Decendre McClease. He was charged with Murder Two While Armed.

Shortly after midnight on Tuesday, December 18, 2007, police were called to the Irving Street address for the report of a stabbing. Upon arrival, officers located 51-year-old Decendre McClease, of the same address, suffering from apparent stab wounds to the body. DC Fire Department emergency medical personnel responded to the scene, but found no signs consistent with life. She was taken to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner and pronounced dead.
