At 11:15 pm on June 22, Rodney Monroe Commander of the Sixth District, announced the arrest of a suspect in the June 21 shooting on 56 Place, SE. Nineteen-year-old Derek Terrell Jackson of the Unit Block of Hanover Place, NW was arrested on a DC Superior Court arrest warrant charging him with Felony Murder. Additional arrests are expected.

At 5:11 pm on June 23, a second suspect was arrested in this case. Eighteen-year-old Jimmy Shelton, of the 5100 block of Hanna Place, SE has been charged with Murder I while armed.
