On Thursday, December 20, 2007 members of the department’s Violent Crimes Branch arrested 29-year-old Tyren Hyman, of the 5000 block of Fitch Street, SE. He was charged with Murder One While Armed in connection with the August 16, 2007, murder of Ladonna Carter.

At approximately 2 am, Thursday, August 16, 2007, police were called to the front of the 3700 block of Bangor Street, SE, for the report of a shooting.  Upon arrival, they located a Ladonna Carter suffering from apparent multiple gunshot wounds to the body.  DC Fire Department emergency medical personnel were called to the scene, but found no signs consistent with life. She was taken to the Office of the DC Medical Examiner and pronounced dead.

Also located at the scene was a 34-year-old female suffering from apparent multiple gunshot wounds to the body. She was flown to an area hospital and admitted in critical condition.  Her name is being withheld because she is considered a witness at this time.
