On Saturday, December 22, 2007, at approximately 12:30 am, police and D.C. Fire Department emergency medical personnel responded to the 800 block of Decatur Street, NE to investigate the report of a shooting.  Upon arrival, they located a male suffering from multiple gunshot wounds inside of a parked motor vehicle.  Emergency medical personnel could find no life signs.

The body of the victim, who has been identified as 20-year-old Michael R. Dempsey, of the 800 block of Decatur Street, NE, was later transported by morgue wagon to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for the District of Columbia.

The case is currently under investigation by detectives assigned to the department’s Violent Crimes Branch.  Anyone who has information regarding this case is asked to call 202-727-9099.

The Metropolitan Police Department is currently offering a reward of up to $25,000 for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person(s) responsible for any homicide committed in the District of Columbia.
