Shortly after 1:00 on the afternoon of Saturday, June 26, 1999, police responded to room 118 of the Howard Johnson Hotel, located at 600 New York Avenue, NE, for the report of an unconscious person. Upon arrival, they discovered the body of a female who had sustained blunt force trauma to the head.
The victim, whose identity has not yet been released, was officially pronounced dead on the scene at 3:55 pm by a doctor on the staff of the D.C. Medical Examiner's Office.
The case is currently under investigation by detectives assigned to Metropolitan Police Department's Fifth District.
