Fatal Shooting on Trinidad Avenue, NE

On Saturday, December 22, 2007, at approximately 3:00 am, police responded to an apartment inside of 1713 Trinidad Avenue, NE to investigate the report of an unconscious person.  Upon arrival, they located 33-year-old Jerry Phelps, of that address, suffering from an apparent gunshot wound to the head.  It is evident that the body may have been there for several days.

The of the body of the decedent victim was later transported by morgue wagon to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for the District of Columbia where an autopsy will be performed to determine the exact cause and manner of death.

The case is currently under investigation by detectives assigned to the department’s Violent Crimes Branch.  Anyone who has information regarding this case is asked to call 202-727-9099.

The Metropolitan Police Department is currently offering a reward of up to $25,000 for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person(s) responsible for any homicide committed in the District of Columbia.
