Homicide in the 4800 Block of East Capitol Street, SE

The Metropolitan Police Department’s Violent Crimes Branch is investigating the death of a man found inside of an apartment as a homicide.

At approximately 1:30 am on Sunday, January 13, 2008, police were called to an apartment building located in the 4800 block of East Capitol Street, SE, for the report of an unconscious person. Officers located an adult male inside a unit in an apparent unconscious condition. DC Fire Department emergency medical personnel were called to the scene, but could find no signs consistent with life.

The victim was subsequently transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for the District of Columbia where an autopsy was performed. As a result of that autopsy it was determined that the victim died from apparent multiple stab wounds and the manner of death was ruled a homicide. 

The decedent in this case has been identified as 45-year-old Floyd King with a last known address in the 3700 block of Jay Street, NE.

Anyone with information about this case is asked to call police at (202) 727-9099. The department currently offers a reward of up to $25,000 to anyone who provides information which leads to the arrest and conviction of the person(s) responsible for any homicide committed in the District of Columbia.

The full legal name of the homicide victim from the 4800 block of East Capitol Street, SE, which occurred on Sunday, January 13, 2008, is John Floyd King.
