MPD Launches New Police Recruiting Website

Police Chief Cathy L. Lanier announced today the launch of an interactive recruiting website in an effort to increase the number of applicants to the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD). Individuals interested in becoming an officer at MPD can now visit DCPolice.jobs.

DCPolice.jobs continues to offer all the information that was previously available online, and much more. New features include a series of video messages from Chief Lanier, discussing her pride in the MPD’s past and future, her thoughts on being a member of the MPD, and her opinion on what makes the MPD the best police department in the world.

The website also includes testimonials from other officers. If you want to know what it takes to become a K-9 officer, select the employee profile of Officer Smith. Or select Officer Branch to learn more about the Emergency Response Team. Video profiles of other members—from district commander to patrol officer—are also available online.

Anyone considering a career in law enforcement can visit the section titled, “Is MPD for Me?” It offers a self assessment questionnaire that will help visitors determine if their interests and qualifications match the department’s needs and expectations. For those ready to take the next step and apply to become a police officer, a form can be completed and submitted online.

The Metropolitan Police Department currently has over 3,900 sworn members and is working towards a total of 4,200 sworn members on the force. The MPD also employs several hundred civilian members, who work in various administrative, technical, operational and management positions. Announcements for civilian positions are also available at DCPolice.Jobs.

For more information, visit the website or call 1-800-994-MPDC to learn about becoming a Metropolitan Police Department member today.

See why it’s a great time to be MPD.
