Arrest Made in September 2004 Homicide

The Metropolitan Police Department’s Violent Crimes Branch announced that a suspect has been arrested in connection with a September 2004 homicide.

On Thursday, January 17, 2008, 40-year-old Maurice Sinclair of the 6500 block of Landover Road in Cheverly, Maryland was arrested and charged with Murder One While Armed in connection with the fatal shooting of Janice Short.

On Saturday, September 18, 2004, at approximately 4:39 pm, police were called to the 300 block of Seaton Place, NE, to investigate the report of a shooting. Upon arrival, police located 37-year-old Janice Short of the 800 block of Barnaby Street, SE, suffering from an apparent gunshot wound to the body. She was transported to the Washington Hospital Center’s MedStar Unit and pronounced dead.
