Arrest Made in Douglas Road Shooting

Metropolitan Police announced today an arrest in the January 11, 2008 shooting of five young people in the 2800 block of Douglas Road, SE.

Deidrick Johnson, 17,  has been charged as an adult with five counts of assault with intent to kill. Johnson was arrested in the 1200 block of Stevens Road, Southeast on Wednesday, January 23, 2008 at 11:10 pm.

“This arrest is the result of tremendous cooperation between the Metropolitan Police Department and the community,” said Police Chief Cathy L. Lanier. “It sends a clear message that the community is fed up.” 

On Friday, January 11, 2008 around 4:30 pm, five young males were walking along the 2800 block of Douglas Road, SE, when they were shot. The victims, who range in age between 17 to 20, were taken to a local hospital for minor injuries. All of them have been released.
