Kidnapping Investigations in the Fourth District

The Metropolitan Police Department is currently investigating two incidents in the Fourth District involving juvenile females who were approached by a lone male. In the first incident, a 14-year-old juvenile female reported to police that at approximately 4:19 p.m. on Wednesday, February 13, 2008, in the area of Georgia Avenue and Jefferson Street, NW, a male suspect attempted to forcibly kidnap her before she was able to get away. In the second incident, a 15-year-old juvenile female reported to police that at approximately 4:45 p.m. on Wednesday, February 13, 2008, while in the area of Georgia Avenue and Webster Street, NW, she was approached by a man who forcibly kidnapped the victim and subsequently sexually assaulted her at gunpoint.

The suspect in the first case is described at this time as a black male, 5’8” to 6’2” in height with a thin build, brown eyes and facial hair described as an unkempt beard or goatee. He is further described as wearing a black “North Face” style jacket, a black skull cap and blue jeans. The suspect may have been operating a vehicle described as a 4-door Chrysler 300, white or silver colored with tinted windows.

The suspect in the second case is described as a black male, in his 20’s, 5’7”-5’8’ in height with a brown complexion, short black hair, a black t-shirt and blue jeans. The suspect is further described as wearing a tan coat that may have been mid-thigh in length and a black belt with a double row of holes and silver grommets. The suspect may have been operating a vehicle described as a newer silver colored car with tinted windows.

It should be noted that at this time there is no conclusive evidence that these cases are connected, however investigators continue to look at any similarities involving these incidents.

These cases remain under active investigation by members of the department’s Youth Investigations Branch and the Fourth District.  Anyone with information about these cases is asked to call police at (202) 727-9099 or the department’s Crime Solvers Unit at 1-800-673-2777. All calls to Crime Solvers are confidential and a caller need not give their name.
