Metropolitan Police Unveil Information Technology Strategy
Chief Charles Ramsey to discuss how emerging information technologies support MPDC's community policing strategy

Metropolitan Police Chief Charles H. Ramsey will announce his comprehensive information technology strategy at a briefing on Wednesday, September 22, and explain how the MPDC is using new technology to support its "Policing for Prevention" strategy. This community policing strategy concentrates on focused law enforcement, neighborhood partnerships and problem solving, and systemic prevention. The Chief will discuss how new technologies in the areas of improved emergency communications, records management and automated field reporting, computerized crime mapping and analysis, and Internet applications will help the MPDC make the streets safer for those who live, work and visit the District of Columbia.
