The Metropolitan Police Department is investigating the fatal shooting of a man that occurred in the 300 block of 35th Street, NE.
At approximately 11:08 am on Thursday, February 28, 2008, officers from the Sixth District responded to the 300 block of 35th Street, NE, to investigate the report of a shooting. Upon arrival, officers located an adult male suffering from an apparent gunshot wound to the head lying in an alley. D.C. Fire Department emergency medical personnel responded to the scene, but could find no signs consistent with life. Subsequently, the victim, who has been identified as 37-year-old Charles Alexander Turner, of the 3300 block of Blaine Street, NE, was pronounced dead on the scene by a representative of the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for the District of Columbia.
The case is under investigation by detectives assigned to the department’s Violent Crimes Branch. Anyone with information about this case is asked to call police at (202) 727-9099.
The department currently offers a reward of up to $25,000 to anyone who provides information which leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for any homicide committed in the District of Columbia.
