The Metropolitan Police Department is investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a woman in the 400 block of K Street, NW.

At approximately 5:15 am, on Friday, February 29, 2008, officers from the First District responded to the 400 block of K Street, NW, for the report of an unconscious female. Upon arrival, officers discovered an unidentified adult female on the ground at that location.  DC Fire Department emergency medical personnel responded to the scene, but could find no signs consistent with life.  

It should be noted that at this time there are no outward signs of foul play in connection with this case; however, the decedent has been transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner where an autopsy will be conducted to determine the exact cause and manner of death.
