The Violent Crimes Branch of the Metropolitan Police Department announced that an arrest has been in a homicide which occurred in the 3900 block of Clay Street, NE.  On Thursday, February 28, 2008, members of the department’s Violent Crimes Branch arrested  31-year-old Coke Sweeney, of the 600 block of 49th Place, NE. She was charged with First Degree Murder While Armed.

At approximately 10 pm, on April 30, 2007, police were called to the 3900 block of Clay Street, NE, for the report of a shooting. Upon arrival, officers located 27-year-old Jahru Gathers, of the 100 block of P Street, SW, suffering from apparent multiple gunshot wounds to the body. He was taken to the Prince George’s County Medical Center and admitted in critical condition. On Saturday, June 2, 2007, Jahru Gathers succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at 3:44 am.
