Death Investigation at DC Superior Court

The Metropolitan Police Department is investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a man found last night inside of the H. Carl Moultrie I Superior Courthouse, also known as DC Superior Court, located at 500 Indiana Avenue, NW.

Reportedly, shortly after 9 pm on Friday, February 29, 2008, cleaning crew personnel discovered an unconscious adult male inside of a men’s room on the John Marshall Level of the courthouse.  Subsequently, they notified building security personnel who in turn summoned police and DC Fire Department emergency medical personnel.  The medical personnel could find no life signs.

At this time, foul play is not evident; however, the decedent, who has yet to be positively identified, was transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for the District of Columbia where an autopsy will be performed to determine the exact cause and manner of death.
