The Metropolitan Police Department's Fourth District , along with the Fourth District Citizen's Advisory Council will be hosting the 4th Annual "Excellence in Law Enforcement Awards Banquet" on Friday, October 22, 1999, with a social hour beginning at 6:00 pm, and dinner and presentation of awards to follow at 7:00 pm. The banquet will be held in the Duvall Hall of the Walter Reed Medical Center located at 6825 16th Street, NW, and will acknowledge police officers as well as citizens who have campaigned to stop violence, protect residents and improve the overall quality of life in the community.

This year's theme, "A Year of Challenges... A Year of Change" encompasses the department's goals to provide more resources to the community, demand more accountability from both uniformed officers and civilian personnel, and formulate new partnerships for community policing and the development of a high quality work force.
