On Wednesday, October 27, 1999, at approximately 12:20 am, Seventh District units and DCFD medics were called to the Potomac Job Corps Center #1 D.C. Village Lane, SW, for the report of an unconscious person. Upon arrival, both units observed 19-year-old Thomas Threadgill of the 2400 block of master Street, Philadelphia, PA lying unconscious on a bathroom floor.

The victim was transported to D.C. General Hospital where he was pronounced dead at 12:59 am.

A preliminary investigation conducted by detectives from the Seventh District indicated that the victim was reportedly involved in a physical altercation with another student. The other student allegedly involved was identified as 22-year-old Samuel Vernard Nanton from New York. He has been charged with Murder II and will be arraigned some time today in D.C. Superior Court. The case of the alleged physical altercation is still under investigation.
