Detectives assigned to the Metropolitan Police Department’s Violent Crimes Branch have learned the identity of the murder victim on Evarts Street, NE.   The victim has been identified as 41-year-old Reginald Gaither, of the 4300 block of Lawrence Street in Alexandria, Virginia.

At approximately 10:27 pm on Saturday, March 15, 2008, police were called to the unit block of Evarts Street, NE to investigate the trouble.  Upon arrival officers located Mr. Gaither suffering from a gunshot wound to the head inside of a vehicle.  DC Fire Department emergency medical personnel responded to the scene, but found no signs consistent with life.

Anyone with information about this case is asked to call police at 202-727-9099.  The department currently offers a reward of up to $25,000 to anyone who provides information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for any homicide committed in the District of Columbia.
