Homicide in the 1300 Block on Shepherd Street, NW

At approximately 6:25 pm on Wednesday, November 17, 1999, 27-year-old Curtis Tyron Hattley, of the 1300 block of Longfellow Street, NW, was riding in the front seat of a car with another man. While in the 1300 block of Shepherd Street, NW they were reportedly approached by a lone male who produced a handgun and began shooting. Mr. Hattley was struck once in the back.

The driver of the vehicle drove to a nearby fire station at Georgia Avenue and Gallant Street, NW for assistance. Mr. Hattley was then taken to the Washington Hospital Center’s MedStar Unit where he was pronounced dead at 6:58 pm.
