Homicide in the 6900 Block of Georgia Avenue, NW

The Metropolitan Police Department is investigating a homicide which occurred in the 6900 block of Georgia Avenue, NW.

 

At approximately 11:33 pm on Saturday, March 29, 2008, officers from the Fourth District responded to the 6900 block of Georgia Avenue, NW for the report of the sounds of gunshots. Upon arrival, officers discovered a black female in the rear of that location suffering from an apparent gunshot wound to the head. DC Fire Department emergency medical personnel responded to the scene, but could find no signs consistent with life. The victim was transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for the District of Columbia and pronounced dead.

 

The identity of the victim, an apparent adult female, is being withheld at this time pending positive identification and the notification of the next-of-kin.

 

This case remains under investigation by members of the department’s Homicide and Sexual Offenses Branch.  Anyone with information about this case is asked to call police at (202) 727-9099.

 

The Metropolitan Police Department currently offers a reward of up to $25,000 to anyone who provides information which leads to the arrest and conviction of the person(s) responsible for any homicide committed in the District of Columbia.
