At approximately 4:17 this morning, a 26-year-old uniformed officer from the Fourth Police District was stopped in her police car in the 3200 block of Hiatt Place, NW, when she was approached by a lone male. The man reportedly asked for directions, and then produced a handgun and fired at the officer before fleeing. The officer received a graze woundto her left arm, but managed to return fire. It is unknown if any of her shots took effect.
The officer, Tajuana L. Cabell, a five-year veteran, was taken to the Washington Hospital Center's MedStar Unit , where she was treated and released. The suspect in this case apparently made good his escape. He is described as a black male of medium height.
