Death Investigation in the 2700 Block of 26th Street, NE

The Metropolitan Police Department is currently investigating the death of a man whose body was discovered in the 2700 block of 26th Street, NE.

At approximately 11:43 last night, Sunday, April 20, 2008, police were called to the 2700 block of 26th Street, NE, for the report of a man down at that location.  Upon arrival officers located an unidentified adult black male in an unconscious condition suffering from some form of apparent trauma.  DC Fire Department emergency medical personnel responded to the scene, but could find no signs consistent with life. He was taken to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for the District of Columbia and pronounced dead.

The identity of the decedent in this case is being withheld at this time pending positive identification and the proper notification of the next-of-kin.

At this time this case is being investigated as an apparent homicide, however the exact cause and manner of death in this case will be determined pending an autopsy to be conducted by the Office of the Chief of Medical Examiner for the District of Columbia.

The decedent in the below listed case has been identified as 18-year-old George Douglas, of the 3100 block of 35th Street, NE. The cause and manner of death has not been ruled by the DC Medical Examiner’s office.
