On Saturday, April 26, 2008, police responded to the 3000 block of Stanton Road, SE for the report of a shooting. Upon arrival, officers located 28-year-old Billy Evans Middleton, of the 3000 block of Stanton Road, SE, suffering from an apparent gunshot wound to the head. DC Fire medical emergency personnel responded to the scene, but found no signs consistent with life. The victim was taken to the Office of the DC Examiner for an autopsy.

The department currently offers reward of up to $25,000 anyone who provides information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for any homicide committed in the District of Columbia.
