Arrest Made in 26th Street Murder Case

The Metropolitan Police Department announced today that an arrest has been made in the murder of 18-year-old George Douglas, which occurred on Sunday, April 20, 2008.    Taken into custody was a 15-year-old male juvenile. He was arrested at 11:50 am on Saturday, May 3, 2008 in the Homicide and Sexual Offenses Branch, located at 3244 Pennsylvania Avenue, SE.  The respondent, whose identity is being withheld because he is a juvenile, has been charged with Murder I while Armed.

 

On Sunday, April 20, 2008, at approximately 11:43 pm, police were called to the 2700 block of 26th Street, NE, for the report of a man down.  Upon arrival, they located 18-year-old George Douglas, of the 3100 block of 35th Street, NE, in an unconscious state suffering from some form of trauma.  DC Fire Department emergency medical personnel responded to the scene, but could find no signs consistent with life.  Subsequently, the body was taken to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for the District of Columbia where an autopsy determined that the cause of death was a gunshot wound to the head.
