Northeast Assault Victim Dies

Detectives assigned to the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide and Sexual Offenses Branch are currently investigating the death of Caesar Pancham, who died today apparently as the result of a head wound he sustained during an aggravated assault which occurred on Thursday, May 8, 2008.

On Thursday, May 8, 2008, at approximately 2:25 am, members of the Sixth District responded to investigate the report of an aggravated assault inside of Apartment #1 of 1136 45th Street, NE.  Upon arrival, they found the resident, 48-year-old Caesar Pancham, lying on the kitchen floor bleeding from an apparent wound to his head.  D.C. Fire Department emergency medical personnel responded to the scene and treated the victim, but he was not responsive.  He was transported to the Washington Hospital Center’s MedSTAR and admitted in critical condition.

Arrested and charged with Aggravated Assault in this case was 35-year-old Allen Ricardo Randolph, of the 6100 block of Surrey Square Lane in Forestville, Maryland.

Caesar Pancham was pronounced dead at 12:36 am on Friday, May 9, 2008. Subsequently, his remains were transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for the District of Columbia where an autopsy will be performed to determine the cause and manner of death.  Should this case be ruled a homicide, Allen Ricardo Randolph will be charged accordingly.
