Homicide in the 1900 Block of 9th Street, NW

The Metropolitan Police Department is currently investigating a homicide which occurred Saturday morning in the 1900 block of 9th Street, NW.

 

At approximately 1:35 am on Saturday, May 24, 2008, officers from the Third District responded to the 1900 block of 9th Street, NW, to investigate the report of a shooting. Upon arrival, officers discovered an unidentified adult male at that location suffering from apparent multiple gunshot wounds. DC Fire Department emergency medical personnel responded to the scene but could find no signs consistent with life.  The victim was subsequently transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for the District of Columbia.

 

The name of the decedent in this case is being withheld at this time pending positive identification and the proper notification of the next of kin.

 

During the course of this investigation at the scene, two other victims, an adult male and female were discovered suffering from apparent graze wounds. The injuries to those individuals did not appear to be life-threatening. The identities of these victims are being withheld due to the fact they may be possible witnesses in this case.

 

This case remains under investigation by detectives from the department’s Homicide and Sexual Offenses Branch. The Metropolitan Police Department currently offers a reward of up to $25,000 for information provided which leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for any homicide committed in the District of Columbia.
