Death Ruled a Homicide; Victim Identified

The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for the District of Columbia has ruled that the death of a man found inside of an abandoned high rise apartment building on Tuesday, May 13, 2008 was a homicide caused by blunt force trauma to the head.  Detectives assigned to the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide and Sexual Offenses Branch have identified the victim as 45-year-old Bobby Lewis Moore, of no fixed address.

At approximately 3 pm on Tuesday, May 13, 2007, police working in the 5900 block of East Capitol Street, SE, received information about the possibility that human remains had been found inside of 5929 East Capitol Street, SE.  Subsequently, they entered the abandoned apartment building and discovered the remains of a deceased person in the fourth floor hallway. The decedent, later identified as Bobby Lewis Moore, was transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for the District of Columbia where the cause and manner of death were determined.

The case is under investigation by detectives assigned to the department’s Homicide and Sexual Offenses Branch.  Anyone with information about this case is asked to call police at (202) 727-9099 or 1-888-919-CRIM[E]. The department currently offers a reward of up to $25,000 to anyone who provides information which leads to the arrest and conviction of the person(s) responsible for any homicide committed in the District of Columbia.
