Investigators assigned to the Metropolitan Police Department’s Major Crash Investigations Unit are currently investigating a fatal traffic accident which occurred at the intersection of 7th and M Streets, SE, on June 21, 2008.

On Saturday, June 21, 2008, at approximately 6:20 pm, a 2001 Kawasaki ZX-7R motorcycle was reportedly traveling westbound on M Street, SE, at a high rate of speed,  when it collided with a 2007 Suzuki Forenza traveling southbound that was apparently attempting to execute a left turn from 7th Street onto M Street, SE.  Consequently, the motorcycle operator was thrown from his bike and came to a final rest in the roadway. 

The operator of the motorcycle, who has been identified as 30-year-old Theodros Dejene, of the 13000 block of Reid Circle in Fort Washington, Maryland, was transported by DC Fire Department ambulance to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead at 7 pm.
