The Metropolitan Police Department is currently investigating the death of a man whose body was found below the Taft Bridge, located in the area of the 2400 block of Connecticut Avenue, NW.
On Tuesday, July 1, 2008, at approximately 4:30 am, police were dispatched to the Taft Bridge for a male who descended from the bridge. Police arrived and canvassed the area, where they located an Asian man resting in an unresponsive state below the bridge. DC Fire Department Emergency medical personnel were unable to find any signs consistent with life. The body was then transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for the District of Columbia where an autopsy will be performed to determine the exact cause and manner of death.
At this time, the identity of the decedent is not known and investigators are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying him. He is described as an Asian male believed to be in his early to mid twenties, 5’6” in height, weighing 210 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes. He was wearing a green reversible hooded rain jacket with a Tommy Hilfiger patch on the left shoulder, a gray Southpole 21 brand name tee shirt, beige shorts over a white adult diaper, and black Rider brand sandals.
