Homicide in the 5100 Block of 7th Street, NW

The Metropolitan Police Department is currently investigating a fatal shooting that occurred yesterday evening in the 5100 block of 7th Street, NW.

 

At approximately 11:41 pm on Saturday, July 12, 2008, officers from the Fourth District were called to the 5100 of 7th Street, NW, to investigate the report of a shooting. Upon arrival officers located three victims, all adult males, suffering from apparent gunshot wounds.

 

One of the victims found suffering from apparent multiple gunshot wounds, was subsequently transported to an area hospital and pronounced dead at 12:10 am. He has been identified as 38-year-old Harvey Leonard Stewart, Jr, of the 900 block of Longfellow Street, NW.

 

A second victim also found suffering from apparent multiple gunshot wounds was taken to an area hospital and admitted in critical condition.  A third victim was reportedly treated on the scene by emergency medical personnel for an apparent graze wound to the head. The names of these victims are being withheld as they are considered witnesses in this case. 

 

This case remains under investigation by detectives from the department’s Homicide and Sexual Offenses Branch. The Metropolitan Police Department is currently offering a reward of up to $25,000 to anyone who provides information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for any homicide committed in the District of Columbia.
