Suspect Arrested in Shooting of Man on Columbia Road, NW

The Metropolitan Police Department has announced that a suspect has been arrested in connection with the shooting of a man which occurred  Sunday, July 13, 2008 in the 1700 block of Columbia Road, NW.   Detectives from the department’s Third District have charged 41-year-old Adrian Guerra with Assault with a Deadly Weapon (Gun) in connection with this shooting.

 

Shortly after 11:00 am on Sunday, July 13, 2008, officers on patrol from the Third District were advised of a possible man with a gun in the area of the 1700 block of Columbia Road, NW.  Officers subsequently located a victim in the 1700 block of Columbia Road, NW, suffering from an apparent gunshot wound to the leg.   

 

During the course of the investigation a suspect was stopped reportedly with the help of witnesses in the 2100 block of 18th Street, NW, and subsequently placed under arrest. A weapon was recovered from the scene.

 

The shooting victim, who is believed to be an adult, was taken to an area hospital and admitted for treatment of his injuries. His exact condition is unknown at this time. His name is being withheld due to the fact that he is witness in this case.
