Homicide in the 1100 block of North Capitol Street, NW

The Metropolitan Police Department is investigating a fatal shooting which occurred in the 1100 block of North Capitol Street, NW.

At approximately 8 pm on Thursday, July 24, 2008, officers from the First District responded to the 1100 block of North Capitol Street, NW, to investigate the report of a shooting. Upon arrival, officers discovered an adult male suffering from an apparent gunshot wound to the head.  DC Fire Department emergency medical personnel responded to the scene, but could find no signs consistent with life. The victim was subsequently pronounced dead on the scene by a representative from the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for the District of Columbia.

The decedent in this case has been identified as 18-year-old Darron Williams of the unit block of M Street, NW.

This case remains under investigation by detectives from the department’s Homicide and Sexual Offenses Branch. The Metropolitan Police Department currently offers a reward of up to $25,000 to anyone that provides information which leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for any homicide committed in the District of Columbia.
