The Metropolitan Police Department is investigating a fatal shooting which occurred in the 1900 block of Southern Avenue, SE.
At approximately 2:15 am on Tuesday, July 29, 2008, officers from the Seventh District responded to the 1900 block of Southern Avenue, SE, to investigate the report of a shooting. Upon arrival, officers located an adult male suffering from apparent multiple gunshot wounds. The victim was transported to an area hospital where he was subsequently pronounced dead.
The identity of the decedent in this case is being withheld pending the proper notification of the next-of-kin.
This case is under investigation by detectives assigned to the department’s Homicide and Sexual Offenses Branch. The Metropolitan Police Department is currently offering a reward of up to $25,000 to anyone who provides information which leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for any homicide committed in the District of Columbia.
