Fatal Shooting on U Street, SE

Detectives assigned to the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide and Sexual Offenses Branch are currently investigating a homicide which occurred in the 1700 block of U Street, SE.

On Tuesday, August 26, 2008, at approximately 7 am, Seventh District officers responded to an alley in the 1700 block of U Street, SE to investigate the report of a man down.  Upon arrival, they located a male suffering from apparent gunshot wounds to the body.  Emergency medical personnel responded to the scene, but could find no signs of life.   Subsequently, the body of the victim, who has been identified as 56-year-old John Calvin Skinner of Northeast Washington, was transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for the District of Columbia.

The Metropolitan Police Department currently offers a reward of up to $25,000 for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person(s) responsible for any homicide committed in the District of Columbia.
