Homicide in the 500 Block of Newcomb Street, SE

The Metropolitan Police Department is currently investigating a homicide which occurred in the 500 block of Newcomb Street, SE.

At approximately 1:20 am on Saturday, August 30, 2008, officers from the Seventh District responded to the 500 block of Newcomb Street, SE, to investigate the report of a shooting. Upon arrival, an adult male was found in front of a residence in that block suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. D.C.F.D. emergency personnel responded to the scene, but were unable to find any signs consistent with life. He was subsequently pronounced dead on the scene by a representative from the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for the District of Columbia.

The decedent in this case has been identified as 27-year-old Gemel Lamont Williams of the 300 block of Parkland Place, SE.

This case remains under investigation by detectives from the department’s Homicide and Sexual Offenses Branch. The Metropolitan Police Department currently offers a reward of up to $25,000 to anyone who provides information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons wanted for any homicide committed in the District of Columbia.
