Arrest Made in Anthony Washington Murder Case

The Metropolitan Police Department announced that an arrest has been made in the homicide of Anthony Maurice Washington, which was committed on September 14, 2008.  On Friday, September 26, 2008, members of the Homicide and Sexual Offenses Branch, with the assistance of Emergency Response Team personnel, arrested 20-year-old Tyrone Sylvester Lee, of Northeast Washington, DC.  Mr. Lee, who was arrested, without incident at his home address, has been charged with Murder II While Armed.

On Sunday, September 14, 2008, at approximately 3:00 am, Sixth District officers responded to the 3700 block of Hayes Street, NE to investigate the report of the sound of gunfire.  Upon arrival, they located three adult males suffering from gunshot wounds.

DC Fire Department emergency medical personnel responded to the scene, but could find no life signs in one of the victims, who sustained at least one gunshot wound to the upper body.  Subsequently, the victim, who has been identified as 24-year-old Anthony Maurice Washington, of the 3500 block of Jay Street, NE, was pronounced dead on the scene by a representative from the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for the District of Columbia.

The two surviving victims, one of whom sustained a gunshot wound to the wrist and the other a gunshot wound to the shoulder, were taken to area hospitals for treatment of apparently non-life-threatening injuries.  Their identities are being withheld because they are witnesses in the case.
