Arrest Made in Aggravated Assault Case

The Metropolitan Police Department announced that a suspect in an apparent hate crime has been arrested.  The suspect, who is a teenage male DC resident, was apprehended on Thursday, September 25, 2008 and has been charged with Aggravated Assault.  His identity is being withheld because he is a juvenile.

Reportedly, on Sunday, July 13, 2008, at approximately 4:30 am, three men were assaulted by five male suspects in the 1800 block of Kalorama Road, NW.  The victims reported that just prior to the assault, the suspects made several homophobic epithets.

The victims, whose identities are being withheld because they are witnesses in the case, were transported to a local hospital where they were treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

The investigation being conducted by detectives assigned to the Third District Detectives Office is ongoing.  No further details are currently available.
