Arrest Made in 2006 Murder of George Jones

The Metropolitan Police Department has announced that an arrest has been made in the homicide of George Jones, who was shot and killed in December of 2006.  On Wednesday, October, 8, 2008, at 2 pm, 23-year-old Corey Emmanuel Livingston, of 6400 block of Lee Place in Capitol Heights, Maryland, was placed under arrest and charged with First Degree Murder While Armed.

On Saturday, December 26, 2006, at12:59 am, members of the Sixth District responded to 1622 17th Street, SE #2 to investigate the trouble.  Upon arrival, they located a shooting victim bleeding from the head who advised that someone had been shot inside of 1622 17th Street, SE.  Officers entered the building and found 46-year-old George Jones, of the 17th Street address, lying in the threshold of apartment #2 suffering from gunshot wounds.  D.C. Fire and Emergency Medical Services Department personnel responded to the scene, but could find no life signs.  A third victim suffering from gunshot wounds was also located and transported to an area hospital. 

This case was investigated and closed by Detective Anthony Greene and his partner Detective James Wilson, with the assistance of the members of Squad 5.  Chief of Police Cathy L. Lanier commended them for a job well done.
