The Metropolitan Police Department announced an arrest has been made in the homicide of Tony Randolph Hunter, who was killed in September 2008. On Wednesday, October 15, 2008, 18-year-old Robert Lee Hanna of Northwest Washington was arrested and charged with Voluntary Manslaughter pursuant to a DC Superior Court arrest warrant.
At approximately 11:30 pm, on Sunday, September 7, 2008, police officers assigned to the Third District responded to the 1300 block of 8th Street, NW for the report of an unconscious person. Upon arrival, they located 37-year-old Tony Randolph Hunter, of the 8800 block of Creek Way Drive in Clinton, Maryland, suffering from serious head trauma. DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services Department personnel responded to the scene and transported the victim to Howard University Hospital where he was admitted in critical condition.
At approximately 4:14 pm on Wednesday, September 17, 2008, Mr. Hunter succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead. He was taken to the Chief Medical Examiner’s Office for the District of Columbia for an autopsy.
This case was assigned to Homicide Squad 2 with Detectives Jed Worrell and Jackie Middleton as lead investigators. Chief of Police Cathy L. Lanier commended them for a job well done.
