Detectives assigned to the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide and Sexual Offenses Branch are currently investigating a homicide that occurred on 6th Street, SW.
On Monday, October 6, 2008, at approximately 9:15 pm, First District officers and D.C. Fire and Emergency Medical Services Department personnel responded to the 1000 block of 6th Street, SW for the report of a man down. Upon arrival, they located a male suffering from severe head trauma.
The victim, identified as 56-year-old Mark Kenneth Blank, of the 900 block of 6th Street, SW, was transported to an area hospital where he was admitted in critical condition. On Thursday, October 16, 2008, he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead. The remains were then transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for the District of Columbia.
