Arrest Made in the Homicide in the Rear of the 1100 Block of Owen Place, NE

Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide and Sexual Offenses Branch announced an arrest has been made in the homicide of Darvell Stewart.

On Friday, October 17, 2008, the suspect, a 17-year-old male juvenile from Landover, Maryland, was arrested and indicted by a Grand Jury. He was charged as an adult with First Degree Murder While Armed.

On April 16, 2008, at approximately 10:44 pm, members of the Fifth District responded to the rear of the 1100 block of Owen Place, NE for the report of a shooting.  Upon arrival, officers located the victim who was suffering from multiple gun shot wounds.  The victim was transported to an area hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.  He was pronounced dead and his remains were transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for the District of Columbia for an autopsy.
